Hi there, Sarah Santacroce with tip number seven of the ten tip video series on How to Humanize Your LinkedIn Presence. Tip number seven, which probably should have been tip number one because it’s really that important, is that you personalize each and every invitation that you send out on LinkedIn. Don’t use any of these default invitations where you just add people.
Personalize LinkedIn Invitations
It’s the first step of building a relationship on LinkedIn, by connecting with the person and saying why you want to connect, where you’ve met them, that you’ve been reading their blog, maybe you’ve been listening to their podcast, you’ve got to tell them.
Because honestly, I receive many invitations every day and probably out of the 100%, 1% or 2% are customized. So, all these other invitations I receive, I don’t know why they know me, maybe they’re on my newsletter list, but I don’t know. I have to do the research to see if I want to connect with them or not. If these people would just say, “Hey, I really liked your video, the ten tips video series.” Obviously, I’m going to connect with you because I know that we have already kind of started a relationship. So, do that for every contact you add to your LinkedIn network, always customize the invitations.
By the way, yes, you can customize invitations on your mobile, iPhone and Android now have the little three dots where you can click on and customize the invitations. It’s super important.
